JOB PURPOSE
The Front-End Developer reviews, analyses, designs, programs, modifies, develops, tests and implements software programming applications and software products. Writes code and applies best practices to the complete programming and testing lifecycle of systems and applications. Converts product or project specification and procedures to detailed logical flow charts for coding into computer languages. Use of demonstrably clear communication skills and an eagerness to learn and develop, both technically and personally, is expected. Programming experience and a wide understanding of online software, tools and programming languages is necessary to help build and implement high quality components. Training, leadership and the direction of others will be required in addition to high programming and analysis abilities. The Front-End Developer plays a key role in the team, scripting SVG components for the new generation browsers, writing and optimizing JavaScript in the restrictive STB environments, all making the IPTV interface richer, more intuitive and involving for viewers. This will include developing and linking a variety of bespoke and proof of concept components with our head-end services software. As well as programming, this role will require continuous communication and involvement with other team members, partner companies and suppliers in order to meet exacting project requirements and deliveries to agreed dates. This role will also regularly create new Product demonstrations, keep our website fresh and up to date, and make new layouts using CSS - so some creativity is required. The JavaScript (and other front end tools) Programmer will be delivery focused, dedicated to quality solutions and able to manage a large and complex workload, switching between different tasks according to business needs, coping with changing priorities and keeping others informed of possible issues. You will understand human-computer interaction, the latest trends in the IPTV industry, be proficient in Excel, have excellent attention to detail and possess good keyboard skills. You will have a good understanding of Client/Server and Web application architectures with a familiarity of internet technologies and standards.
